Richard Ibghy & Marilou Lemmens have recently been selected for a permanent public installation at the Lab-École in Shefford, Quebec, Canada.
According to the artists:
The work presents, on the surface, an interplay of geometric forms and, inside, a living space for chimney swifts. These small insectivorous birds are an endangered species in Quebec and the loss of nesting sites is one of the main causes of their population decline. By proposing habitable sculptures, the work is intended to be a symbol of hospitality and concern for other living beings, while offering an elegant, pragmatic and hopeful solution for their recovery.
