Mounir Fatmi is currently included in Raising Flags, a deconstructed group exhibition featuring flags designed by 26 international artists.
Each flag is presented for about six months in a culmination area near the Wien River, on the Stubenbrücke, at numerous locations in Vienna, in virtual exhibition spaces online and in media spaces of newspapers and magazines.
Fatmi’s flag, Technologia, combines elements of Arabic calligraphy and geometric motifs printed in black on translucent materials. Technologia is the beginning of a research project combining language and the optical effect of images and of the machine’s movements.
Technologia will be on view through July 31.
