Congratulations to gallery artist Margarita Cabrera on having been selected as a recipient of the 2023 Latinx Artist Fellowship!
In response to the lack of systemic support, visibility, and patronage of Latinx artists, the Latinx Artist Fellowship is a multi-year initiative that provides 15 Latinx visual artists with $50,000 in unrestricted funds. Cabrera and fourteen other artists constitute the fellowship’s third cohort, representing the originality and talent of artists of Latin American or Caribbean descent living and working in the US today.
Administered by the US Latinx Art Forum in collaboration with the New York Foundation for the Arts and supported by the Mellon Foundation and the Ford Foundation, this award is the first significant prize of its kind and celebrates the plurality and diversity of Latinx artists and aesthetics.
