Artists Lucy + Jorge Orta have worked collaboratively since founding Studio Orta in 1992, and this has been the ethos of their practice ever since. Pattern Book, published in 2009 looks back over a series of projects that have engaged communities in a process of thinking, exploring, and making together.
Through concrete examples, readers interested in co-creation, social practice and community engagement will gain a deeper insight into the artists' multi-layered methods of engagement and the social, political and pedagogical impact of their work. An essay and interview by curators Sally Tallant and Janna Graham reflect on the principles of collaboration and pedagogy that characterise the work of Studio Orta.
