Ilke Cop

Biography

Ilke Cop (BE, 1988) lives and works in Brussels, Belgium. Educated as an art historian and with a background in fashion as a designer with an award-winning sustainable brand (ILKECOP), she is a self-taught artist. She is a member of the new womxn’s writing collective Hyster-x. In recent years she developed a striking and diverse art practice.

Recent solo exhibitions include: Once in a Blue Shroom (2024) at CC Deschakel & Bepart, Waregem (BE), Hardcore/Softspore (2024) and Prolific (2022) at Tatjana Pieters, Ghent (BE), Key Figures: Dialogues of the New Figurative (2022), Kortrijk (BE), Folded Whites (2022) Barak Lili M at Pilar, Brussels ( BE), State of Things (2021) at KL8, Brussels (BE).

Cop recently made an interesting contribution to the Biennale of Painting (2024) in Museum Mudel, Deinze (BE), The Crystal Ship Festival (2024), Ostend (BE), Sint-Denijs-Stad (2023), Sint-Denijs (BE), Search Party (2023) curated by Ben Edmunds at Galerie Tatjana Pieters, Ghent (BE), Kunstenfestival Watou (2022), Poperinge (BE), PASS (2021) curated by Jan Hoet Jr. & Kris Martin in the church of Wannegem (BE). In 2024, she was awarded the Gaver Prize, a bi-yearly prize for upcoming Belgian painters.
